Accessing Alert Settings
To turn on or edit leak alerts for a meter:
- Log in to the SimpleSUB Water web app
- Select your property from the left-hand navigation
- Click on the unit you want to configure
- Under Device Status, click the pencil icon to open Device Settings
From there, you can enable and customize leak alerts for that meter.
Leak Detection Alerts
There are 2 different alerts that are emailed to the user's email address on the account:
- Leak Alert (Low Flow Leak Alert)
- High Flow Leak Alert
To edit alert settings for an individual meter, you can:
- Navigate to the unit and click the pencil icon under Device Status, or
- Go to the Devices tab and click Edit on the meter
You can enable either or both of the alerts on the Device Settings screen by toggling the button for each alert. If you want to change an existing threshold, toggle off and then back on the alert that you want to change, or click the text box with the threshold. Once you have input the values that you want, click Save, and it will be updated for that unit.
Low Flow Leak Alert
This alert is sent when continual usage meets the configured duration and flow threshold. For example, if the alert is configured for 12 hours at 1 GPM, an email is sent when that condition is met. If the condition continues, the alert will continue to be sent based on the configured duration.
High Flow Leak Alert
This alert is customizable to any threshold over a chosen timespan. The default in the Web App is 400 gallons over 5 hours, so an email will be sent as soon as the threshold is passed in that timeframe. This default was determined using an average usage for 5 hours by an approximately 2,000 sq ft home. For High Flow Leak Alerts, you will not receive another alert until 24 hours plus the configured threshold timeframe have passed, giving you time to address the leak.
For example:
If the threshold is set to 400 gallons in 5 hours, you will receive an alert as soon as the threshold is exceeded. The alert will then snooze until 24 hours plus the configured threshold timeframe have passed. With a 5-hour threshold, this would be 29 hours.
If usage continues to exceed the configured threshold after the alert snooze period ends, you will receive a new alert. Both of these values are customizable, so you can configure the gallon threshold and timeframe to a lower or higher value based on your usage patterns.
